Anti-inflammatory, Roman chamomile essential oil is widely used in dermo-cosmetics to help soothe inflamed skin conditions, whether accompanied by itching or not (eczema, psoriasis, acne, couperose, inflamed sensitive skin, etc.). It is especially suitable for sensitive and reactive skin.
Soothing, Roman chamomile essential oil is known for helping reduce anxiety, stress, nervous tension, and insomnia, and may therefore help alleviate certain stress-related skin concerns, such as stress-induced eczema.

HISTORY
The scientific name of chamomile, Chamaemelum, means “apple on the ground” in Greek, referring to its distinctive apple-like scent when walked upon. Although commonly known as “Roman chamomile,” it is not native to Italy but rather to the Atlantic regions of Europe. It is believed to have been rediscovered in the 16th century by the botanist and physician Camerarius.
Roman chamomile later became emblematic of the Chemillé region in Anjou, France. Its cultivation expanded during the 19th century when vineyard pest outbreaks led to the conversion of a large agricultural workforce.
ORIGIN
Siprès Roman chamomile essential oil comes from a family farm in Maine-et-Loire, France, where it has been organically cultivated under DEMETER certification since 1967. Since the early 2000s, the farm has invested in its own distillation facilities, allowing the entire process to take place on site and ensuring full traceability.
EXTRACTION
Siprès Roman chamomile essential oil is obtained through steam distillation of the flowers.
