Lemon verbena has both cosmetic and therapeutic benefits. You have probably already drunk herbal infusions made from dried verbena leaves to support digestion or benefit from its calming properties.
Also known as fragrant verbena or lemon-scented verbena, it releases a soft citrus scent when its leaves are crushed.
At Siprès, we use lemon verbena in the form of a hydrosol.
Properties
Anti-inflammatory and soothing, lemon verbena is ideal for calming atopic and sensitive skin. The citrals present in lemon verbena hydrosol help act on skin inflammation. Very well tolerated, lemon verbena hydrosol is ideal for the most delicate skin, prone to irritation, including baby skin.
Antioxidant and toning, it tones and firms skin tissues, brightens the complexion and refines skin texture.
History
Lemon verbena originates from tropical regions of South America. It was brought back from Peru in the 18th century by French naturalist Joseph Dombey, as part of a royal exploration mission. He faced difficulties introducing verbena to Europe, as only one plant survived the journey. It should not be confused with common verbena or lemongrass.
Origin
The lemon verbena hydrosol used in Siprès Lemon Verbena Water is produced in Provence on a family farm passed down through five generations of organic certified AB and Nature & Progrès since the late 1970s. They grow and distill several aromatic and medicinal plants on site.
Extraction
Siprès lemon verbena hydrosol is obtained by low-pressure steam distillation using 1 kg of leaves for 1 L of floral water. This ratio ensures an effective concentration of active compounds.
