At Siprès, we use a virgin sea buckthorn oil obtained through CO₂ extraction, a gentle method that preserves the integrity of its active compounds.

Properties
Healthy glow: thanks to its very high carotenoid content (including provitamin A), sea buckthorn oil is known for giving the complexion a luminous and even appearance. It is also widely used in pre- and post-sun skincare.
Anti-ageing: sea buckthorn oil has an exceptional level of vitamin E and antioxidants, which help fight excess free radicals and prevent the appearance of wrinkles and other signs of ageing.
Hydrating: it helps maintain skin elasticity and strengthens the intercellular matrix thanks to its content of omega-6, omega-7 (which is rare!), and omega-9.
Regenerating, anti-inflammatory, and healing: thanks to its richness in omega-3 and phytosterols, sea buckthorn oil supports cell renewal and helps repair damaged skin.
History
The botanical name of sea buckthorn oil (found in the INCI list) is Hippophae Rhamnoides Seed Oil. The first part comes from the Greek hippos (“horse”) and phaos (“light, shine”), referring to its use in antiquity: according to legend, Alexander the Great used sea buckthorn to make his horses’ coats shine. It was only in the 20th century that its benefits were rediscovered and highlighted. Sea buckthorn berries are among the most vitamin-rich fruits in Europe, and the shrub’s extensive root system helps prevent soil erosion.
Origin
Siprès sea buckthorn oil is produced in France, in the Alpes-de-Haute-Provence region.
While China is currently the world’s leading producer of sea buckthorn, we have chosen a local, French, and fully controlled supply chain.
Our partner producer, Emmanuel, has been cultivating sea buckthorn organically for over 10 years. A PhD in biology, he specialises in this demanding crop and masters every step, from planting to extraction.
This choice guarantees an exceptional oil that is fresh, traceable, and produced with respect for living ecosystems.
