The essentials for naturally caring for baby

A simple, minimalist and 100% natural routine to respect baby’s fragile skin every day.

Babies’ skin is particularly fine, fragile and permeable. Their hydrolipidic film is not yet fully developed, which makes it more sensitive to external aggressions. In this context, adopting a minimalist routine and choosing naturally derived skincare helps preserve skin balance.

Choosing baby products is not just about where you buy them. A product sold in a pharmacy or para-pharmacy is not necessarily formulated with a short, natural composition. For a natural baby routine, the ideal is to choose simple formulas, without added fragrance, without alcohol and made with naturally derived ingredients.

The principle to remember: fewer products, but better chosen.

NAPPY CHANGING, THE NATURAL WAY

Changing time is a frequent moment that requires gentleness and simplicity.

Several options are possible depending on how things are organised at home:

  • Water alone, possibly with a suitable gentle soap in case of stools.

  • Oleo-calcareous liniment, which cleanses gently and leaves a light protective film.

Liniment does not contain a surfactant, so it does not cleanse in the strict sense. It is recommended to do a gentle cleanse once a day with a suitable soap, during bath time or evening washing.

It should be noted, however, that liniment does not contain soap and therefore does not clean in the strict sense of the term. It remains important to clean your baby’s bottom with a small amount of soap once a day, during bath time or their evening sponge wash.

If you choose soap, wet a reusable Baby Wipe and add a small amount of Neutral Liquid Marseille Soap.

If you choose liniment, apply one or two pumps onto a reusable Baby Wipe. They can be machine washed in a laundry bag together with items such as towels or bed linen.

BATH TIME: SIMPLICITY AND RESPECT FOR THE SKIN

A cold-process soap or Neutral Marseille Soap is ideal for cleansing baby’s body and hair. Avoid irritating surfactants and fragrance on fragile skin.

After the bath, for a little bonding moment and to soothe any redness, irritation or dryness, massage with Huile Corps de Calendula françaisBaby & Nursing Care Oil.

GENTLY CLEANSING THE FACE

For the face, simplicity remains the best approach.

To clean the eyes, soothe the skin of the face and balance its pH, I spray some French Fine Lavender Water onto a reusable makeup remover pad. Simply wipe it over the face to gently cleanse.
